I’m going to create a page that has my tournament attendance history and any notable placings
Should have it done tonight, let’s hope my memory serves me well on this
Should have it done tonight, let’s hope my memory serves me well on this
So I took 1st place in Street Fighter IV, 2nd place in Street Fighter 3 and 2nd place in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3….I’d call that a good night
Tonight was time for South Wales Fight Night 5. Street Fighter IV, Third Strike and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 were the games I was interested in tonight.
I went there with my friends and team mates, we expected to have a good time socialising and just enjoy the games. I never imagined I’d reach the finals of any game, let alone 3!
First was Third Strike, how I got to the final I’ll never know. I lost to CircleMasher’s Q. I won 2 rounds over the 2 games, but alas not enough to win. It was a fun set, I played both Remy then Ryu. Probably should’ve stuck with Remy or tried Alex.
Then was UMvC3, I won my first game convincingly then I had to fight my best friend. He knew I hadn’t been practicing, and he knew I didn’t care about the game much so he was saying that he essentially had a free pass to the finals. I knew that he was working on a new team and had been putting the time in….so I knew I had to show him you don’t call me a free pass. I won the first game, even after dropping a combo with Cap….the second game came along and I could tell he was struggling with my Wolv. I managed to take the win, 2-0 I was chuffed he was gutted. I did rub it in a bit, but that’s what you need to do when the salt is strong in your opponent. On the ride home it was all fine though. I then had the finals match. I won the first match, lost the remaining 2. Last match came down to the very last mix-up..I didn’t get it and lost. I came second to another member of Team Limit Break so I wasn’t fussed, and I was laughing about how I made the finals in all the games.
Finally Street Fighter IV. I was playing Mashters, a guy who I play a lot and never understand the match. He plays a very different Ken, so I have to play a very different Bison. I ended the match with 2 taunts and a hell of a lot of Devil’s Reverses. It wasn’t a lack of respect, it’s how I play when I have to change my game plan. After about the fourth devil’s reverse, Mashters did an ultra that whiffed…to which I punished and did it again in the next round. I wasn’t happy with my play as I hate playing like that. However, it worked and I won.
It was a good event and nice to see everyone again before Sodium Showdown next Sunday. So glad I won!
